Ten people from our church family recently returned from Mexico working with our ministry partners in LightShine to reach the Tarahumara Indians in the Brickyard Community of Chihuahua. It was amazing to see God at work, answering prayers and seeing the work being done to make Him known among the Tarahumara. It was also hard to see the brokenness of the Tarahumara in the community, and the difficult things that they have had to endure. The team members were able to meet their sponsor children, and have opportunities to build relationships and share God’s love with them.
As a church, in December and at Youth Advance (YA), we raised money to construct movable metal walls in the community center for use as classrooms for LightShine. The team was able to work on soundproofing and covering these walls which were a huge blessing to the teachers.
It was a busy week the team taught first aid, hosted a game night for the kids, helped with the LightShine after-school program visited sponsor families to give food and supplies to, took the kids on a field trip to some local caves, and spent time in the community meeting people and praying for them.
This Sunday, July 15th after the service the team will be sharing more about the trip which will be a great time to hear about the work God is doing to reach the Tarahumara, as well as what He is doing in the heart and lives of the team members. You will not want to miss it!
ANOTHER TEAM ABOUT TO GO FORTH // We are also excited to have another team heading down to Mexico in a couple of weeks. This new team is made up of Cross Current students, leaders, and parents. We are excited to see the next generation excited about nations. Please continue to pray for this team as they prepare for their trip at the beginning of August.
