Youth Advance 2012

WHAT is yourth advance?

YA is a 3-day conference where several hundred youth, parents, and leaders come together to explore, encounter and exalt Jesus Christ.  This happens through worship in song, relevant messages from God's Word, powerful ministry times, meaningful conversations with one another, and honestly - a lot of laughs.  Outside of our general sessions together, there are plenty of fun things to do: basketball, volleyball, football, indoor & outdoor rock climbing, ropes course, zip line, the giant three person rope swing, and a fully loaded game room stocked with a disgusting amount of snacks and soda.  Be prepared for outrageous games, prizes (parents win too) and some pretty sweet giveaways.  Warning: you will be exhausted!

ATTENTION parents!

Parents, we not only welcome you, we strongly urge you to attend YA 2012 with your teen(s) and build lasting memories together!  It's not the same when you're not with us.

Our Theme is "Vertical Identity"

Every one of us is seeking for our identity and we want to be known for something.  The question is where do we look to discover who we are?  It's so easy to find our identity in the horizontal things of life like our upbringing, circumstances, relationships, possessions, strengths or weaknesses, victories or defeats, achievements or failures.  Today, more than ever, students are wrestling with understanding who they really are and who they want to be.  It can be a confusing time and they are bombarded with conflicting messages from our culture.  "Who am I?" is a critical question and God's Word alone cuts through the confusion.  It's only as we study the Scriptures and learn who God is and what He has done for us in Christ, that we will discover who we are and why we even exist.

WHAT should I bring?

Yourself, your parents, your friends, Bible, sleeping bag, pillow, warm clothers, towels, toiletries, lots of snacks & soda, extra money for the YA bookstore, camera, and, most importantly, a humble heart that is ready to encounter the living God!

WHAT should I not bring?

TV, radio, ipod/mp3 player, CD player, magazines, tobacco, computer, drugs, alcohol, firearms, fireworks, knives of any kind, shaving cream, rebellious attitude, a closed heart... you get the idea.  When in doubt...ask before bringing it!

WHAT if I need financial help?

Please don't let money stand in the way of attending YA 2012.  We don't want anyone to miss out on being a part of this conference.  Limited scholarships are available for those who need financial assistance.  If you attend Grace Community you can contact Becky.  Members of Sovereign Grace Church and Christ Fellowship Church should speak with their youth pastor first regarding financial help.
