In the first seven chapters of the Book of Acts we see the mission given to the church by the ascended Christ begin to unfold.  The church is born.  The Holy Spirit comes to the people of God to fill and empower them.  This enables them to live as a community of Spirit -filled believers and to take the gospel message to their local community in Jeruselum. Beginning in chapter eight we see the next phase of the church's mission as the gospel begins to go forth throughout the rest of the world.
